The Collections Manager role will be based in Miami. Insurance benefits are available the first of the month following sixty days with the Company. 1st Merchant Funding is a growing, technology enabled, fast paced, collaborative and team-oriented financial services firm. We are actively seeking qualified candidates for this role and growth opportunity.

The Company is seeking a collections professional to manage the day-to-day operations of our Asset Management Team. This position reports to the Vice President of Finance.  The qualified candidate must always conduct themselves in a professional manner and will ensure any non-performing accounts are actively managed in order to safeguard the assets from unnecessary losses.  Follow up on all open and pending items, together with a high degree of reliability on job performance and consistency, is critical to success.

Essential Job Functions:

- Identify and act on non-performing or slow pay accounts and demonstrate proven results.  Actions include placing direct phone calls and emails to business owners and/or principals. Actively involved with business owners and/or principals relative to investigating and returning their accounts back to performing status, communicating internally and through the Company’s systems, and if applicable, turning over non-performing accounts to third party collection firm.  Follow up on all actions, including with the business owner, principal, Vice President of Finance, Director of Asset Management, and others is essential.

  • Communications with Company’s partners on issues with respect to accounts they originated and seeking their input and support.
  • Maintaining detailed records on all actions taken in this role.  Prepares documentation and correspondence necessary to perform responsibilities.
  • Review accounts for discrepancies and potential issues.
  • Skip tracing where applicable.
  • Aid in development of operational procedures and process improvements.
  • Close collaborate with the Company’s Management and Finance Team regarding Asset Management metrics, performance on accounts, strategic approaches to certain accounts where necessary, and write off of those accounts where appropriate
  • Following instructions and input from the Director of Asset Management and others relative to work performed. 
  • Delivering on related duties and activities as may be assigned.

Information accessed and gathered may include confidential and sensitive information of the Company and its merchants. Safeguarding all of this confidential information is an essential part of this role. In addition, strict adherence to compliance of all applicable laws and regulations relative to the performance of the duties hereunder is essential. This role and the corresponding duties may expand to other items as may be requested by the Company. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma (or G.E.D) and a college degree is required.
  • Highly recommended that the incumbent to have at least 3 years of experience in collecting, accounts receivable or a related area.
  • This position requires good written, oral and reading communication skills in order to accurately interpret and transcribe a variety of communications and instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) is required.
  • This position requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to adjust and interact with all levels of personnel.
  • Incumbent must be multi-task oriented, organized, set priorities and meet deadlines and take pride in one’s work.
  • Daily follow up on unresolved accounts.
  • Must have the ability to think logically and "outside of the box".
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new tasks.
  • Willingness to travel on occasion.
  • Mature, organized and efficient.
  • Able to excel in a team environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism and work ethic, aware of applicable laws and regulations and always conducting themselves in a manner within applicable laws.
  • Fluent in Spanish is a positive.
